I will dominate 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-bout fight which will be streamed live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the pair met personally to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.

Ex two time unified heavyweight champion Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Mindset

"I will damage his features and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Interaction

Despite such comments, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically famous for his dramatics - shared friendly words and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he showed up," Joshua stated.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he said.

Paul's History

Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or faded names since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in last year.

Commercial Attraction

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's largest money-making draws, frequently receiving substantial earnings.

Forecast and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in rounds four or five and asserted he would prevent the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul said.

Size Difference

As the two fighters met for the usual stare-down, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is actually proceeding.
